A Little Lagniappe

On my way home from treasure hunting in an antique market yesterday a neon pink sign caught my eye.  One block from turning onto my street it screamed “Estate Sale”!  Well, what else could I do?  I made the block and parked as fast as possible!  One of the things I love about living in my neighborhood is the  diversity of the population.  We have two colleges, a day school, churches and hospitals on our borders.  The people who live here vary from students to elderly folks who have probably lived here for much of their lives.  We moved into Belhaven as newlyweds and have been here ever since – my husband can walk to his office!

Estate sales are a mixed bag for me – part of me is so nostalgic about personal belongings being offered to strangers and part of me is so thrilled at the thought of being a part of another life by saving and repurposing another’s treasure!

Here is what I am saving!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERALOVE this tureen!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOne of a pair – not sure exactly what I will do but I love the lines of these!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAGreat looking console with glass top – still dreaming up it’s new life!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHung this bracket over a mirror and placed my little Staffordshire figure on it for now!

What a fun surprise to find this sale and grab these great items.  So happy to keep the trappings of another life merging with mine!  The thing that got to me about this sale was the wedding dress hung on a closet door for sale.  Note to self:  Get the dress out of the preservation box before the children have the estate sale!  (I don’t think leg-o-mutton sleeves are making a comeback!)

Have a wonderful weekend!
