The Neshoba County Fair

When your significant other hails from Philadelphia (Mississippi, not Pennsylvania!), you quickly learn about Mississippi’s Giant House Party, The Neshoba County Fair!

The first Neshoba County Fair was held in 1889 and was actually called the Coldwater Fair.  The fair was organized two years later and became the Neshoba County Stock and Agricultural Fair Association; this is when the event was moved to its’ current site and admission was charged in order to operate.

My friend Laura’s cabin on Founder’s Square has been my “fair home” for many years…

Approximately 10,000 people move to the fairgrounds for the last week in July to reconnect with family and old friends, and greet new friends.

There is a lot of porch sitting, lemonade drinking, entertaining and eating going on.

The cabin decor ranges from holiday celebrations…
