Whole Foods Market

The weekend took us to  Austin, Texas, to watch the Ole Miss Rebels soundly beat the Texas Longhorns.  We were so lucky to be staying with Austin natives and friends who showed us the best time ever.  They made sure we saw all the must-see spots in Austin – one of those being the Whole Foods Market.

After all, Whole Foods Market was founded in Austin by four local businesspeople.  John Mackey and Renee Lawson Hardy, owners of Safer Way Natural Foods, and Craig Weller and Mark Skiles, owners of Clarksville Natural Grocery decided that it was time to introduce natural foods to the supermarket format.  The original store opened in 1980 and had a staff of only 19 people.  Immediately it was a success!

I am so excited that Whole Foods is coming to Jackson and from the looks of things it will be open before long.

This was a great preview of what is to come…

I am gluten free (Celiac disease) and can hardly wait for the store to open. I hear they carry a lot of gluten free foods that are not available anywhere else in our area.
