A Sugar Maple Tree At the Eudora Welty Visitor’s Center

There is a sugar maple tree on the grounds of the Eudora Welty Visitor’s Center that puts on the prettiest show in town each fall.

I thought it would be fun to watch it through my camera lens and so I began stopping each day and taking a picture as it began its’ transformation.

The yellow leads off…

fall leaves

fall leaves

softly turning orange…

The leaves closest to the trunk remain green while the ones outside continue to turn…

fall leaves

becoming more brilliant…

fall leaves

day by day…

fall leaves

until the leaves begin their descent…

I used to bring the children here on Thanksgiving morning to gather colorful leaves to press between sheets of waxed paper for our placemats.

Perhaps now that the leaves have fallen we will not have to stop here every day for all of this picture taking…
