Derby Day

A couple of years ago we attended the Kentucky Derby with dear friends in celebration of a 50th birthday.

Since the run for the roses is this weekend…

I thought it would be fun to revisit some of the hats I spotted while we were there.

Trust me,  this is a sight to behold…

Do you know about Jim the Wonder Dog? He was a Llewellin Setter and allegedly had super powers that enabled him to predict the sex of unborn babies as well as the winners of the Kentucky Derby for seven years in a row.  Jim lived during the 1930s and puzzled many psychologists at the time.  Once his abilities were tested publicly by psychologists and it was determined that Jim “possessed an occult power that might never come again to a dog in many generations.”

A park was built to honor him in 1999 in Marshall, Missouri, which is where Jim died.

Andy Davis, a Columbia sculptor, created a bronze sculpture in Jim’s likeness for the park.

Have a wonderful weekend and may the best horse win…
