Happy Monday

I returned late last night from a wonderful trip to Maine to celebrate number two son’s birthday and so I prepared a little flowery post for you as a Happy Monday reading!

On our morning walks the weather was cool enough to require a jacket and many of the flowers that have long since departed our Mississippi spring are just now making their Maine appearances.  I enjoyed visiting some favorites for a second time this year and also loved seeing some that I will never be able to grow in my southern garden.

Oh I bet that you do after having spent so many years in PA. I was in Philadelphia last year and was able to enjoy them then as well. Two years in a row for me!

Love all your blogs! Think of our crepe myrtles as unscented lilacs, remember our magnolias and gardenias! We grow beautiful gardens, and because we do, are able to appreciate what we can’t grow. Mary

Thanks for reading along and for making the point that we all need to enjoy our native plants. I totally agree and this has been a magnificent year for the magnolias and gardenias – like walking through clouds of perfume here in Belhaven. I can’t help it though – I would love a lilac!
