Tay Morgan Designs

I chased down friend and artist, Tay Morgan, and asked if she would let me share her work with you.  She graciously obliged and I took a fun field trip out to her house/studio.  Tay owns

Tay Morgan Designs

and paints whimsical paintings that are printed on stationery, calendars and gifts and are sold through retail stores in the U.S., on her website, at Mistletoe Marketplace and other holiday shows each year. Her annual inspirational wall calendar has been a best seller for over 15 years through out the country! The 2015 edition will be the 15th ANNIVERSARY!

(the green link above will take you to her website)

inspiration for the 2015 calendar cover came from her own garden…

This home is fairly new to the family and it is open and spacious, so Tay says that she paints all over the place – in the kitchen, studio or garden – just wherever she feels inspired!

She has a nice studio space with a painted pegboard for display…

Tay Morgan Design

love the fruits and Wolfe bird…

Tay Morgan Design

there is also wall space for hanging…

and a nearby walk-in closet for storage…

prayer blocks above and small flowers below would both be great gift ideas…

Tay Morgan Design

birds are an obvious inspiration…

an abstract hangs over the mantel in the great room…

I asked if we could take a stroll through the garden and look what we found…

Her backyard neighbor!

I think she wanted a snack…

Tay Morgan Design

these two were excited to see their pal – tails were wagging…

Tay Morgan Design

it did nothing but boost my opinion of Tay when I met her furry friends…

Tay Morgan Design

she has also transformed some furniture with chalk paint…

Tay Morgan Design

love the gold detail…

Tay Morgan Design

She promised me that it is really easy – but I figure that is easy for an artist to say!

I loved this cabinet…

Tay Morgan Design

again, such pretty details…

Tay Morgan Design

these were painted specifically for the space…

Tay Morgan Design

perfect…

Tay Morgan Design

in her son’s room are some of her earliest artistic endeavors…

pretty pastels for the daughter…

Tay Morgan Design

noticed this on the daughter’s bedside table…

I think I extricated a promise from Tay to paint another popular house on the Ole Miss campus!

right next to that – pretty puppy…

Tay Morgan Design

loved these puppy portraits…

I noticed a painting by my friend the late, great Miriam Weems…

Tay Morgan Design

It turns out that she and Tay’s mother were dear friends and Miriam and Tay ended up at Ole Miss studying art together!

Tay told me that Miriam was dismayed at having that many faces to paint (faces were not her favorite) and I told her that I had done the same when I asked her to paint daughter’s senior party!  I love them both…

Tay Morgan Design

that lead to a discussion about this wonderful Weems painting of mother and daughters…

Tay Morgan Design

Miriam painted it four times!  All three sisters and the mother have one.  In each painting the girl in the yellow dress is the birthday girl and her birth date is displayed above the group!

I told her I would come and sit on her porch anytime!…

I was there the day before she was departing with her sisters and mother for a ladies retreat to Hawaii!

Hope it was fabulous!

Aloha…
