House Tour: Two Magnolias

Two Magnolias is a French Colonial raised cottage situated on Lake Pontchartrain in Mandeville, Louisiana.  Its current owner happened into the garden here OPP this past spring when we hosted the luncheon for The Garden Club of Jackson’s spring fundraiser.  We walked and talked around my garden and before he left I had an invitation to Mandeville!  Since this splendid house is currently available for purchase, I knew that I wanted to see it in short order so I hopped in my car and headed south on a pretty spring day.  I’m finally getting around to showing it to you and I think you will love what you see.

The house was completed in 1852 for Victor Freste whose dry goods business was located on Chartres Street in New Orleans…
