Jackson Friends of the Library hosted author Carolyn Brown yesterday at one of its Applause programs designed to highlight Mississippi authors.  I told you about her new biography of Margaret Walker a few weeks ago.  If you missed it click here

This was my fist visit to the Willie Morris Library and I loved seeing two paintings by the late artist Lynn Green Root…

a highlight of my visit was seeing the portrait of Willie Morris painted by my friend Baxter Knowlton…

I have always loved a library!  Some of my fondest childhood memories involve visits with my mother to the local library to cart home as many books as they would allow one patron to take.  Later on I would find solace in part time work at my college library enjoying the tranquility and order of that place.  Now I am grateful to be serving a term on the Jackson Friends of the Library Board and in this day of all things internet being back in libraries among actual books!…

Have a great weekend!
