A Toast To Monkey

My friend’s mother passed away several years ago and she has the sweetest tradition to honor her memory – it’s A Toast To Monkey!

Monkey, you see, was the mother’s nickname and she was beloved by her family and all of their friends.  Every year on Monkey’s birthday her daughter hosts a get-together to celebrate her mother’s life and everyone raises a glass to her memory…

A Toast to Monkey

this year my friend referenced a sermon from the previous Sunday…

the subject was gratitude…

so I thought it appropriate on this third Sunday in Advent…

to invite you to toast to Monkey along with us…

my friend’s newly renovated home was decked out for the season…

A Toast to Monkey

the stockings were hung…

A Toast to Monkey

pretty bowl full of oyster shells…

A Toast to Monkey

look how pretty her necklaces are hung on the lamp shade – why didn’t I think of that?…

A Toast to Monkey

beautiful creche…

A Toast to Monkey

a glimpse of the pool beyond her bedroom…

A Toast to Monkey

feels like I am in Greece…

A Toast to Monkey

love the gorgeous dome on her table…

A Toast to Monkey

of course there is cake…

A Toast to Monkey

A Toast to Monkey

and so on this third Sunday in Advent let’s stop and recognize all that we have to be grateful for…

and perhaps raise a glass in a Toast to Monkey…
