Words To Live By

Neil Gaiman, the English author, and I have a bit in common.

I knew this immediately when I read the following excerpt from an interview with him…

I wasn’t frisked but was frequently told things like

“no reading at the table” and

“put down the book and come out of your room”

So when I ran across this the other day I  thought it the best advice for beginning a brand new year…

“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.

So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.

Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, Do it.

Make your mistakes, next year and forever.”

Neil Gaiman

Here’s to making a few mistakes and taking chances…

Neil is one of my favorite authors! The best life changes often come from the biggest mistakes; I love his quote, thank you for posting it ♡ I hope your Sunday is beautiful, ours is very wet up here in Portland, but still pretty 🙂

Our speaker at church this morning talked about how usually our biggest blessings are born out of regrets or mistakes! Definitely true for me and I also love his writing. Our day is cold and dreary but I have lots to do at home so that is okay. I am loving my scrub – skin is so soft!
