Samuel Weller founded Weller Pottery in 1872 in Ohio.  His business was begun in a small cabin where he had a single kiln and produced bowls, vases, flower pots and crocks.

By 1915 it was the largest art pottery in the world with hundreds of lines of painted pottery being produced.

Weller’s days were numbered by the time the 1930s rolled around with only molded pottery being made.  The company struggled to stay in business during World War II and was closed in 1948.

One of the biggest sellers for Weller was its Hudson vase line with nostalgic floral paintings which are today considered among the finest hand painted pottery created during the early 20th century…

Love your new vase! Thought you might be interested in knowing (if you don’t already) about another famous pottery made in Ohio. Rookwood Pottery was started in Ohio by a woman and is still made. https://www.rookwood.com/history.php

There is also a a great restaurant in Cincinnati located in the original factory called The Rookwood. Many older homes in Cincinnati have Rookwood tiles.
