A Great Surprise

Yesterday I got a great surprise in the form of an email from the Tour Registrar for the Visiting Gardens Committee  of the Garden Club of America.  Several months ago I put my name on a interest indicator list for a Visiting Gardens trip to Newport, Rhode Island.  Every member of every affiliate club in the country has the opportunity to apply for these trips.  Friends, that is like 18,000 people!

The way this works is first you sign up on the interested list and then you wait…and wait…and wait…

and then one day you receive a notice that the official application process will take place on a certain date and then you wait a little while longer…

On the day that you receive the application via email, you download it and fill it out and race to the PO so that your envelope is postmarked on that date – because that is how it is decided – first come, first served.

There are only 30 spots available for this particular trip so if more than 30 applications were postmarked on the divined date then  there is a lottery.  I do not have any idea if there was a lottery but if there was then guess what?

Fabulous, Marsha. I know that will be a wonderful trip to see those private gardens. I’m envious! But I know we will get peeks into those gardens via OPP. That makes me very happy!

now, Marsha, was there really any doubt EVER??? you are the MOST “STARSTRUCK” lady i ever saw! always in the right place at exactly the right minute! PLUS, your frequent flier miles must be at 1 Million. so envy your life AND your abilities! BUT content to live down the street and read OPP every day and live vicariously! keep ’em coming!
