Fun With Flowers On Friday

If you happened by here yesterday then you will already know that author and floral designer, John Grady Burns, is visiting the Garden Club of Jackson this week and I am following him everywhere he goes!

He offered a workshop called “Stump John Grady” where attendees were invited to bring a container for him to transform with floral design…

these were to be items that the owner deemed difficult or challenging for flower arranging….

The workshop topic stemmed from a group of Atlanta ladies who had taken many of John Grady’s classes and wanted to take learning to the next level.  An idea was hatched for the group to select containers and stems unbeknownst to John Grady so that he had to create spur of the moment arrangements without prior planning.

This group definitely provided some challenging containers…

and John Grady definitely delivered the goods…

this one came out resembling a bird…

(I’m not sure if that was the intention or just my interpretation but I liked it nonetheless)

he combined the piece of wood with a pottery vase for a natural look…

I think my favorite was the heart he created with curly willow and twine…

Miss Camellia Cannon visited the Dog Wash for some pampering during some of the festivities and so it was only appropriate for her to get a fresh collar flower with all of this flower arranging going on!

here’s her hydrangea for spring…
