A highlight of my recent visit to Newport was a sunset cruise on the Rum Runner…

We had enjoyed a lovely luncheon at the New York Yacht Club earlier and it was fun to see the club from the water…

  1. What a great way to end the day…sometimes I wonder what it would be like to summer in those big houses…Have visited Hammersmith Farm…lovely. Interestting about that house on the rocky island…read a story about two girls who survived that same hurricane, but their parents were washed way…wish I could remember the where I read it.

After visiting Newport I am intrigued about that hurricane and will probably be digging around for more information. I’ll let you know if I stumble across that story! I wish I could have visited Hammersmith before it returned to being a private residence. I hope you are enjoying some lazy summer days by this time!

I think I saw a story about that rock island house–maybe someone restored it???

Yes, it was restored and we were told that it was available for rental. I’m not sure if I want to be on that isolated rock though!
