Linens from Siena

A bit of a throwback today from my trip to Italy last summer and the great linens I found while visiting the medieval town of Siena…

Siena Italy

we visited the day before the famed Palio and so things were really hopping…

Siena Italy

The Palio di Siena is held twice a year, once on July 2nd and again on August 16th.  Ten horses and riders (bareback and dressed in the colors of the city ward they represent) race around the Palazzo.

evidence of the festivity was all around…

The Palio di Siena (known locally simply as Il Palio) is a horse race that is held twice each year, on July 2 and August 16, in Siena, Italy. Ten horses and riders, bareback and dressed in the appropriate colours, represent ten of the seventeen contrade, or city wards.

My great find had nothing to do with the race though!

I found the most wonderful shop…

I finally made my choice and the rest of this story (which only recently was completed)  will be revealed!

Oh, and you know I made a special friend there…
