A Nice Surprise

Daughter has been visiting a friend in our nation’s capitol this week and yesterday I got a nice surprise!

My phone rang and it was none other than daughter exclaiming “guess where we are?”…

me…”The White House?”…

daughter…”no, the United States Botanic Garden!”…

me…”oh my gosh – send pictures!”

friends, this is a proud moment for me…

United States Botanic Garden

I promise you I did not require a visit to the garden as part of the trip!

Imagine my delight in knowing that she went of her own accord…

United States Botanic Garden

I even received photos of several “flowers that I would be interested in growing”…

I think that the fascination with succulents has been passed along…

United States Botanic Garden

looks like they even did a little maintenance…

United States Botanic Garden

imagine how pleased I was to see that she even paid attention to the pollinators exhibit…

United States Botanic Garden

if I couldn’t be there myself…

United States Botanic Garden

seeing it through her eyes was the next best thing…

United States Botanic Garden

and truly a nice surprise…

United States Botanic Garden

I hope your week holds a nice surprise…

  1. Probably going to sound crazy, but this actually brought a tear to my eye. It is so special when a child appreciates things that make you happy and proud. You can know for sure what a wonderful influence you have been on her life. Good job Mom…and tell daughter the photos excellent. I live only 50 minutes away…I may now need to go back.

I will be sure to tell her that her photos were appreciated! No it doesn’t sound crazy at all to me since it brought a tear to my eye also! You need to take a field trip back there for sure!

  2. So glad you had this happy experience. My “guess where I am” call came from the Cloisters in NYC. She was in the herb garden where the smell of rosemary inspired the call.
