RIP Dr. Jazz

Our community said a fond farewell to a much beloved friend and neighbor this week.  Howard Jones, aka Dr. Jazz, died unexpectedly after a brief illness and none of us were ready for this goodbye.

Howard was a beacon of light in the Belhaven neighborhood, at St. Andrew’s Cathedral and pretty much anywhere he went.  We have a special fondness for him here OPP as he has helped us celebrate many special occasions over the years.

At a home  meal for the football team when number 2 son was playing,  Howard helped me surprise the team with a musical departure.  As they left our house, the St. Andrews Saints were met with Dr. Jazz’s rendition of “When The Saints Go Marching In”…

I’m so happy that I have this memory…

I’m also a fortunate owner of a piece of his art.  After a spring party here OPP, Howard surprised me with his painting of our home.  I have always loved the little painting but today it is a real treasure…
