Birmingham Fun

When my friend suggested that I make a quick trip to Birmingham, AL, to assist with getting her daughter settled into a new apartment I jumped at the chance!  Our girl had an opportunity to select from a treasure trove of her grandparent’s collections and I knew it would be great fun to help her settle them into their new home.

Her new home has some interesting built ins and we plotted over how to use them while maintaining the best use of floor space…

The bookcase, while handy, was going to need to disappear behind a  love seat and we just decided to use the upper shelf for display and treat the louvered section as a wall for hanging a prized print of her grandfather’s…

The gorgeous bow front chest of drawers was retrieved from a guest bedroom and given a prominent place in her dining area…

Mirror and water colors collected from the grandparent’s trips to France were placed above the chest and our girl declared that she had “traded up”…

Sweet chair upholstered in silk stripe finds a home next to an aquarium with more of her grandparents water color collection hung above…

She had selected some pretty pillows which fit right in…

We did spend the bulk of our time helping her settle in, but no trip with this trio is complete with visiting the local garden shops where we get more inspiration…
