Pontchartrain Hotel

I’m lucky enough to be spending a couple of days in the Big Easy with friends and we’re staying at the recently renovated Pontchartrain Hotel…

The Pontchartrain opened in 1927 as a luxury apartment building and then in the 1940s was refashioned as a luxury hotel.

I’m having visions of what it would have been like to live here in a cozy apartment…

The Pontchartrain has opened its hallowed doors for such luminaries as Frank Sinatra, Rita Hayworth, Presidents Gerald Ford and George H.W. Bush, not to mention its favorite son Tennessee Williams who worked on “A Streetcar Named Desire” while staying here.

We are sharing a charming suite…

One of us in particular feels right at home here…

I love all the painted cupboards…

What’s not to love about an apartment with a chandelier in every room…

The art throughout adds to the ambiance…

This is not one of those establishments with a plastic key thingee that opens your door.  Oh no, we harken back to the actual real heavy brass key with room number that can be read by adding the first two numbers together and then attaching the last two…

Do the math, I landed in 807!

Oh, and it’s pet friendly here…

Enjoy your day…
