On The Bookshelf: House Style

My copy of House Style: Five Centuries of Fashion at Chatsworth is pre-ordered and I cannot wait for it to arrive after its April 4th release…

Chatsworth, a famous historic house in England, has been home to the dukes of Devonshire since 1549.  The estate also has a rich history in fashion from dresses to tiaras, from lace to uniforms, from its art collection to its splendid gardens.

Chatsworth is set to open an exhibition of its history of fashion on March 25th to run through October 22nd.  If we aren’t able to make it over the pond for the exhibit at least we can revel in the sumptuous images sure to be found in the book…

The 200 page survey is being published to mark the exhibition and will feature photographs by Mario Testino, Cecil Beaton and Bruce Weber.

The exhibit and survey are sure to give a unique insight into the Devonshire collections as well as the style icons who graced these halls…
